On 20.09.2024 from Apple announced their latest smartphone model - 16. Almost a year earlier, on 22.09.2023. The iPhone 15 was available for excited customers. The 15-series model managed to gain remarkable popularity even before its debut. Judging by the statistics two months after the premiere of this one in series 16, it stubbornly refuses to give way to its predecessor.
Differences in characteristics
Processor
Although only a generation separates the two phones, they differ in several ways. One of the more subtle but significant differences between them is in the processor. Both are 6-core, but the iPhone 16 is equipped with improvements with as many as twice the A18, while the iPhone 15 has the A16 Bionic. According to Apple, the new chip is 30% faster than the previous one.
Apple Intelligence
Another advantage of the A18 is that it supports Apple's new AI-powered Intelligence. This feature is not available on older models and allows the customer to take advantage of specially developed artificial intelligence that facilitates typing using all kinds of tools and makes your experience with the phone as personalized as possible.
Action Button
The two models differ not only in software, but also in appearance. The action button was first introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, but with the iPhone 16 it becomes a permanent part of the smartphone's design. It now has a wider variety of features instead of the previous option to turn on silent mode. This can be adjusted in the settings, thanks to the improved ios18 operating system that Apple's latest smartphone enjoys.
Camera control
Another interesting button that is noticeable on Gen 16 but not available on Gen 15 is Camera Control. It allows you to activate your camera and even adjust various frame settings such as zoom and focus, including switching to video recording.

The phone's camera itself is one of the most visible differences between the two models, especially in appearance. In the newer model, we see the return of the vertical camera arrangement typical of the classic iPhone X. Both phones take extremely high-quality photos (24MP and 48MP), but only the iPhone 16 has the new macro photography and spatial photography features that truly immerse the viewer in the picture.
Video Record
New video recording features also make their first appearance on the 16-series smartphones. These include 1080p spatial recording at 30 frames per second with additional wind noise cancellation. The macro option can now be used not only for photos, but also for videos with the options to add a slow or fast cadence. The quality of QuickTake capture is also greatly improved over the iPhone 15 from 1440p at 30fps to 4K at 60fps.
Battery
With the iPhone 16, you can enjoy extended battery life from the previous 20 hours of video playback on the 22 and the previous 16 hours of video playback (streaming) on the 18. Both designs include the newly adopted USB-C charging port.
Loading with MagSafe
The two phones also differ in their wireless charging speeds. The newer model supports a maximum of 25W, compared to the previous 15W. This allows for faster MagSafe charging, especially for short intervals.
Colors
For those who care about the design of their smartphone, both models are available in a wide selection of colors. On the 15 series they are more pastel and include blue, green, yellow, pink and black and on the 16 series they are a bit brighter and are available in white, pink, turquoise, blue and black again.
Accessibility
Finally, of course, the models are also distinguished by their prices. The iPhone 15, as the older model, is a bit more affordable, at the expense of some of the extra goodies seen on the iPhone 16.
