What is the difference between iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
If you are looking for a newer iPhone model at a more affordable price, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus from 2017 are suitable options. Their parameters are at a very high level compared to analogues from other brands. The 8-series smartphones prove that Apple has no limits and that they consider in every detail every innovation in their models. In this post, you will find more details about the difference between the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
As analogues to each other, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus look almost identical, except for a few facts.

iPhone 8 is 13.8 cm high, 6.7 cm wide and 7.3 mm thick. While the 8 Plus is 15.8 cm high, 7.8 cm wide and 7.5 cm thick. The main difference is in the height and width of the two smartphones.
- Display and resolution
iPhone 8 Plus is bigger and has a higher resolution. It has a 5.5-inch display with Full HD / 1080p / LCD display, while the iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch display with HD / 750p / screen.
Due to the larger size of the display and its better resolution, Apple has opted for more RAM in the iPhone 8 Plus - 3GB of RAM, which gives it a slight advantage in performance over the iPhone 8 with 2GB of memory.

Both models have a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera on the back, which keeps every memory in great brilliance with the best possible balance of shades and close to reality colors. In addition, however, the 8 Plus has a second camera that allows it to take more distant photos (provides additional "zoom" options). Another characteristic quality that is very well known in Apple phones and you can get it at 8 Plus is shooting in portrait mode.
The iPhone 8 has an 1821 milliampere battery, while the 8 Plus has a 2675 mAh battery or 854 milliamperes on top, but due to its larger display, this does not give it a big advantage. On both phones, the batteries last evenly and are enough for a day or two of normal use, but with more frequent use or playing games, you may need to charge within half a day. Both models can be charged with an 18-watt charger, which reaches the battery 50% capacity much faster than the standard 5W adapter.

Given these differences, however, they have many similarities in their parameters.
Both analogues have a built-in Apple A11 Bionic processor, which is six-core with an ideal speed for fast operation between applications and trouble-free gaming. Thanks to the optimized iOS operating system and advanced processor technology, it is much faster and more economical than previous models.
- Wireless connection
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus work with 4G LTE network when there is a SIM card in the phone. Both models support WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. Under the glass back, you'll find an NFC sensor used for the Apple Pay app, or in other words, to pay contactless with your phone instead of a payment card.
- Wireless charging
Both smartphones have a glass back that allows wireless charging using the QI charging standard. This glass back has another advantage, the phones are much more comfortable in the hand than previous models. This glass was developed by engineers from the company Corning, which is behind Gorilla Glass. Glass on the back is stronger than most other brands of smartphones on the market.

At the top-middle of the display, on the 8 and 8 Plus, there is a 7-megapixel HD camera for selfies and FaceTime calls. The camera has the option of wide capture and automatic image stabilization, supporting Full HD video recording and Retina flash, which uses the display.
- Finger print
Both models have a Touch ID sensor under the display that scans fingerprints, this sensor is included in many Apple devices and is well known to fans of the brand.
The sensor allows you to use your finger to verify your identity in front of Apple devices. Thus, the sensor of the 8-series models allows you to unlock the phone faster and pay with Apple Pay.
- Range of colors
The 8 series smartphones are available in four colors:
1. Space Gray (dark gray)
If you prefer to have a bigger screen to watch videos or play games and a camera to take beautiful portraits of your friends and family, then you can safely choose the iPhone 8 Plus.
However, despite the obvious difference in size, you still need to think about how size will affect your daily interaction with the phone. If you have a smaller grip, for example, the iPhone 8 is more comfortable to hold and fits more easily in your pockets.
If you watch a lot of videos and play games, the larger iPhone 8 Plus is more suitable. And while you may not be able to distinguish it with the naked eye, given the higher resolution and pixel density of the iPhone 8 Plus, the images are a bit sharper (at least on paper).
The Apple iPhone 7 Series smartphones have the same sizes and layouts of buttons, sensors and cameras as their 8-series counterparts. If you have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, you can easily upgrade your current phone with a newer model and get the corresponding analogue from the next series. The protective covers and glass protectors of the iPhone 8 and 8 plus are interchangeable with those of their predecessors. If you have a large set of cases and protectors for iPhone 7, you can safely pick up an iPhone 8 and use the same accessories. This trick also applies to the transition from 7 Plus to iPhone 8 Plus. The correspondence is valid in the reverse order, if you are looking for an accessory for the 7th series, you can get one that is designed for the 8th series.
